Luton Airport

London Luton Airport (IATA: LTN, ICAO: EGGW) was previously called Luton International Airport. It is an international airport located 1.7 miles east of the town centre in the Borough of Luton in Bedfordshire, England. Luton airport is and is 35.1 miles northof Central London. The airport is 2 miles from Junction 10a on the M1 motorway. It is the fourth largest airport serving the London area after Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted. It is one of London's five international airports along with London City Airport.

Mottolines Airport Transfer is available 24hrs a day at Luton Airport. It is advisable to pre book your transfer before arrival or departure.

The first time over 10 million passengers were transferred through Luton airport in a single year was in 2008 making it the fifth busiest airport in the UK. The airport serves as a hub for Easy Jet, Monarch Airlines, Thomson Airways and Ryanair. Most of the routes served are within Europe, although there are some charter airline routes to intercontinental destinations

What about taxis for getting to and from the Luton airport?

Standard taxi fare between central London and Luton cost about £75 and £90 on average. VIP service cost more. Average journey times are about 1 hour 10 minutes, although much depends on the time of day and driving conditions on the M1 and the M25.Some companies charge more for odd hours such as late nights and early mornings. Even though this is not always the case, it is important to shop around before making a commitment. Most airport transfer providers monitor the flight and will give between half hours to one hour free before charging waiting time. Be sure to check this before booking.

It is best to pre book your taxi before arrival at Luton airport as there are no taxi ranks. If, however, you have not pre-booked it is possible to make arrangements in the International Arrivals Hall at the appropriate desk.

Luton airport has a good long stay car park and the prices are reasonable too. But there is a fifteen minutes shuttle transfer from the facility airport parking in Lutonto the airport terminal building so factor that in while reaching a decision on whether to bring your car along.

Should you decide to use taxis in Luton, it is always advisable to pre book with a reliable and official airport transport company to make sure your taxi is there on time.

Mottolines is the only London Airports operated taxi service that offers excellent service and discounted fares if you are departing or arriving in any of the listed airlines.

With many people choosing to fly with nothing but hand luggage, especially on many of the budget airlines, it is worth pointing this out that Mottolines does not build in any extra charges except for all pickups that requires a "Meet and Greet". You will be asked to indicate how you wish to be picked up on arrival during the booking process.

Popular meeting points for taxi drivers include the Airport Information Desk this is clearly marked near the arrival gate. Airport can be busy making it quite easy for people to miss each other. It is therefore advisable to give a mobile phone number when pre booking and to remember to switch the phone on after landing.

Every possible type of vehicle is available from Mottolines for trips to and from Luton, from the bog standard saloon carrying 4 passengers and a couple of suitcases up to people carriers and mini buses carrying larger groups with more luggages.

If you fancy travelling in style or are business travellers wanting to work on the journey you might like to consider a VIP taxi, commonly a Mercedes or BMW, driven by a uniformed chauffeur who will even carry your luggage into your house. Leather upholstery, Satellite Navigation, air conditioning and Wi-Fi are the norm when paying for this sort of service. Drivers are also CRB cleared and discreet so that you should have no worries if making confidential business calls from the vehicle.

Luton Taxis, Minicabs – what’s the difference?

Most of us prefer to pre-book our travel to and from the airport but if not, then in theory at least, we would be able to flag down a taxi, whereas minicabs must in law be booked in advance. Both, however, have to meet certain regulations in order to be licensed and drivers of both classes of vehicle should be equally competent and reliable.

Best options is to book a Luton Airport transfer with Mottolines and get double discounted fare (Up to 40%) if your airline is listed for arrival and departure from Luton Airport
